Water, Environment, Natural Resources & Climate Change

This department plays a crucial role in safeguarding the county’s well-being and sustainability. They manage water resources, ensuring clean and accessible water for residents. Additionally, they protect the environment and conserve natural resources, fostering biodiversity and ecological balance. Addressing climate change is another key responsibility, involving implementing mitigation strategies and adapting to its impacts. Their efforts ensure a healthy environment for present and future generations.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing water resources.Protecting the environment, conserving natural resources, and addressing climate change issues.
Key functions:
  • Managing water treatment, distribution, and sanitation systems.Protecting watersheds and water sources.Conserving forests, wildlife, and other natural resources.Reducing greenhouse gas emissions and adapting to climate change impacts.Enforcing environmental laws and regulations.

  • Over 30 years of experience in public service and health information management
  • Extensive background in policy development, strategic planning, and monitoring and evaluation
  • Expertise in health information systems, including the development and implementation of the Kenya Health Information System (DHIS-2, KMHFL)
  • Proven leadership in coordinating national health assessments and strategic plans
  • International experience with WHO in health information management and disease surveillance
