Governor George Natembeya, and patron of Kenya Red Cross in Trans Nzoia County, has announced a collaborative effort with the organization to recruit additional volunteers. This decision, shared during an event at Town Hall in Kitale where two vehicles were received from the Red Cross Head Office, is driven by the need to enhance disaster response services for the county’s growing population, currently standing at 1.3 million residents.
Expressing gratitude for the two vehicles provided by Red Cross Kenya, Governor Natembeya acknowledged the challenges faced by the existing 300 volunteers and highlighted the importance of increasing their numbers. He mentioned that the recruitment drive would be supported by a dedicated budget to facilitate the process, with special attention to the training of security wardens recently hired by the county.

Present at the event were Chairman Ronald Masindano, County Chief Officer for Governance Dr. Wanjala MajiMoto, PSM counterpart Philip Kapten, and Director of Communications Dr. Felix Sialo. Governor Natembeya expressed his commitment to strengthening the partnership with Red Cross and improving disaster response capabilities in Trans Nzoia County.
