Four new County Executive Committee Members (CECs) were sworn in on Thursday at the Town Hall county offices in Kitale, presided over by Governor George Natembeya.
The officials — Kerio Lorot (Water and Environment), Pius Gumo (Lands), Eliud Tormoi (Gender and Youth), and Robert Wamalwa (Public Service Management) — took the oath of office, pledging to serve the people of Trans Nzoia with diligence and integrity.
The changes come after Governor Natembeya dismissed several cabinet members over what he described as incompetence and failure to meet expectations.
“A cabinet member must learn and understand their roles once, but we cannot keep repeating the same instructions,” the Governor said, adding that the reshuffle was also prompted by the impending expiry of CEC contracts.
- Lorot replaces Boniface Wanyonyi, who was relieved of his duties.
- Gumo succeeds Janerose Mutama, who was redeployed to the Education docket.
- Wamalwa takes over from Julia Ruto, who was dismissed.
- Tormoi replaces Stanley Kirui, who was also dismissed.
The Governor disclosed that members wishing to be considered for reappointment will be required to submit fresh applications, while one cabinet member has opted not to seek renewal.
Meanwhile, the County Assembly has received the nomination of Zablon Obiri for vetting as the next CECM for Roads and Public Works.
