County allocates Ksh 140 million for Education and Vocational Training, subject to changes

The County Government of Trans Nzoia has allocated KSh 140 million to the Education and Vocational Training sector in the 2026/2027 financial year budget.

The County Government of Trans Nzoia has allocated KSh 140 million to the Education and Vocational Training sector in the 2026/2027 financial year budget.

Out of the allocation, KSh 75 million will be used for Education programmes, while KSh 65 million will be injected into Vocational Training Centres.

A budget draft circulated during public participation indicates that KSh 21 million has been set aside to equip ECDE centres with specialized learning materials.

In Kiminini Sub-County, KSh 500,000 has been allocated for the construction of a pit latrine at Bikeke ECDE.

A similar amount has been allocated to Limuli ECDE, Toro ECDE, and Machungwa ECDE.

Endebess Sub-County will receive KSh 1.5 million for the same purpose.

If the draft budget remains unchanged, Cherangany Sub-County will receive KSh 6 million for the construction of ECDE centres at Namanjalala and Ngonyek.

In Endebess Sub-County, Chepchoina ECDE will receive KSh 4 million for the construction of an ECDE centre.

In Saboti Sub-County, the county government has allocated KSh 3 million for the supply of furniture to Machewa ECDE and KSh 7 million for the construction of an ECDE centre.

In Kwanza Sub-County, early childhood education is expected to improve after the county allocated KSh 14 million towards the construction of ECDE centres at Milimani, Marinda, Kambindege, Kapomboi, Kapsitwet, Lunyu and Goseta.

For vocational training, KSh 50 million has been allocated for capitation of VTCs to support scholarships and other Educational programmes.

The construction and rehabilitation of VTCs has been allocated KSh 13 million.

The funds will be used for non-residential buildings such as offices, training centres, and other related infrastructure.

In addition, KSh 2 million has been allocated for start-up kits and related infrastructure works in Kiminini Sub-County.
