Construction of bridges across different wards in Kiminini Sub County is progressing well, according to the Trans Nzoia Roads Inspection Committee.
Led by Roads and Public Works CECM Gideon Barongo, the committee found that contractors have made significant progress and most of the projects are expected to be completed within a week.
Barongo spoke on Monday during an inspection tour of ongoing road and bridge projects in Kiminini Sub-County.
The committee inspected Mucharage–Chalicha Bridge in Sikhendu Ward, Roots Bridge in Nabiswa Ward, Nabiliki–Weng’ang’a Bridge, and Nandasaba–Birunda Bridge in Nabiswa Ward.
The team also inspected the Weonia–Maliki Road, which has already been completed.
In Kiminini Ward, the CECM toured Point A, Point B and Point C villages to assess the need for culverts, drainage improvements, grading and graveling.
He said the assessment confirmed the need for an improved road network in the area.
Residents said they have experienced poor road infrastructure for many years. They noted that the area lies between Kiminini and Matisi wards but does not have a polling station.
As a result, some residents register as voters in Kiminini Ward, others in Matisi Ward, and others in Waitaluk Ward.
The residents believe this has contributed to the area’s slow development.
Meanwhile, a section of contractors dismissed claims by Senator Allan Chesang that there has been little or no development in Trans Nzoia County.
Led by Johnstone Ngure, the contractors said Governor George Natembeya’s administration has implemented numerous development projects across all wards in the county.
They challenged the senator and his supporters to visit the projects and witness the developments undertaken by the county government.
During the inspection tour, Barongo was accompanied by area Clerk of Works Dismas Matifari, who said all projects are being implemented according to the approved specifications.
