Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has been ranked as the best visionary leader in Kenya, while Janerose Mutama emerged as the top-performing CEC in Trans Nzoia County and the second-best in the country.

Governor George Natembeya has been ranked as the best visionary leader in Kenya in the latest pollster rankings conducted by Pollster Research Company. The award, presented at Ciala Hotel in Kisumu, recognizes his outstanding governance, service delivery, and implementation of community-driven programs in Trans Nzoia County.

Pollster CEO Paul Njiraini commended Governor Natembeya for his strategic leadership, particularly his KIKAO programs, which have fostered public participation in governance. These community engagement forums have helped bridge the gap between citizens and the county administration, promoting transparency and accountability.

🏅 Janerose Mutama: The Top-Performing CEC in Trans Nzoia

Education and Vocational Training Committee Member Janerose Mutama was also recognized as the top-performing County Executive Committee (CEC) Member in Trans Nzoia and ranked second-best nationally for her contributions to county development.

Mutama has been instrumental in the Lands, Physical Planning, Housing, and Urban Development sector, overseeing major projects that have positively impacted thousands of residents.

Major Contributions by Janerose Mutama:
🔹 Kitale Town Beautification Program – Enhancing the county’s urban appeal.
🔹 Land Title Programs – Securing land ownership for Nabiswa and Liyavo residents.
🔹 Market Planning Initiatives – Improving the layout and facilities of markets.
🔹 Reclaiming Grabbed Public Land – Strengthening land governance in the county.


⚖️ Promoting Alternative Land Dispute Resolution

Mutama was also recognized for her advocacy of out-of-court dispute resolution mechanisms, which have helped resolve long-standing land disputes in Trans Nzoia County.

Through collaboration with the Kitale Law Courts and local administration, Mutama has streamlined land case resolution, ensuring that residents receive timely and fair decisions.

Additionally, her leadership has been pivotal in securing the Kenya Informal Settlement Improvement Program (KISIP-II), supported by the World Bank. This initiative has transformed five informal settlements in Trans Nzoia, focusing on:
✔️ Land tenure regularization – Ensuring landowners have legal documentation.
✔️ Infrastructure development – Upgrading roads, drainage, and social amenities.


📢 Pollster CEO: Encouraging Healthy Competition in Leadership

Pollster Research Company CEO Paul Njiraini emphasized that the annual rankings, which cost Ksh 5.3 million, aim to promote healthy competition among public officers and encourage servant leadership.

Several leaders present at the award ceremony encouraged the rankings to be expanded to other government sectors.

✔️ Machakos Senator Wambua and Kisumu Senator Tom Ojienda urged leaders to maintain honesty and consistency in governance.
✔️ Homabay County Women Representative Joyce Atieno Bensouda called for a cost-benefit analysis of government projects to ensure sustainability.
✔️ Tanzanian Ambassador to Kenya, Bernard Yohana Kibesse, encouraged leaders to continue listening to the needs of the people and addressing them effectively.


🎖️ Cherangany MP Patrick Baraza Simiyu Honored for Excellence

In addition to Governor Natembeya and CEC Mutama, Cherangany MP Patrick Baraza Simiyu was recognized as the best-performing Member of Parliament in Trans Nzoia County.

🔹 He was lauded for his equitable distribution of bursaries, infrastructure development, and contributions to the education sector in the cosmopolitan constituency.
