The much-anticipated Trans Nzoia Governor’s Super Cup commenced on Thursday at the Yuya Primary School grounds in Cherangany Subcounty, marking the start of an electrifying tournament aimed at fostering talent and community unity.
Over 250 Teams Participating
Governor George Natembeya officially launched this year’s competition, which features over 250 teams—200 men’s teams and 50 women’s teams—representing all 25 wards across Trans Nzoia’s five sub-counties.
Highlighting the stakes, Governor Natembeya announced,
“The winning men’s and women’s teams will each take home Sh1 million, along with additional rewards such as jerseys, uniforms, balls, and nets.”
Opening Matches Thrill Fans
The tournament’s opening matches set a high bar for excitement:
- Sibanga Ladies edged out Botwa Queens in a penalty shootout with a 3-2 victory, following a 1-1 draw during regular time.
- In the men’s match, Kaplamai clinched a narrow win over Yuya, with a 1-0 scoreline.
