Senior Administrators Commit to Excellence as They Sign Performance Appraisals

Senior Administrators in Trans Nzoia pledge to deliver top-notch services as they sign Performance Appraisals, aiming to achieve the county's vision.

Senior Administrators in the County Government of Trans Nzoia have reinforced their dedication to providing excellent services by signing Performance Appraisals at the Museum Hall on Tuesday. These commitments are part of the county’s broader effort to fulfill its vision for improved governance and service delivery. The officers involved include key personnel from the Department of Governance, such as Directors, Sub County Administrators, and Ward Administrators, who signed their appraisals in the presence of a witness and colleagues.

The event was attended by Kichwen Ruto, the Public Service Management and Governance County Executive Committee Member (CECM), and presided over by Governance Chief Officer Mr. Sammy Sichangi. Senior figures from the Governor’s Delivery Unit (GDU), as well as heads from Communications, Fire, Information and Communications Technology (ICT), and Disaster Management Units, were also present. Sub County Administrators from the regions of Cherangany, Kwanza, Kiminini, Endebbes, and Saboti led the way in signing their commitments.

Since July, Governor George Natembeya’s administration has emphasized the importance of Performance Contracting and Staff Performance Appraisals, now extending these evaluations to officers below Job Group J/CPSB 10. This initiative aims to strengthen service delivery across the county.

“There will be a reward scheme for those who exceed or meet their set targets while those who fail to achieve would be sanctioned,” said Mr. Sichangi during his remarks, underscoring the county’s dedication to staying at the forefront of governance. He stressed that achieving targets is crucial for maintaining the county’s leadership.

In her closing address, CECM Kichwen assured that her department would strive to provide the necessary resources to help officers achieve their goals. However, she acknowledged the perennial challenge of limited resources, urging staff to make the most of what is available to deliver optimal results. “Resources have never been adequate, and it should never be an excuse for underperformance,” she emphasized, calling on the officers to deliver their best efforts despite the constraints.

Through this renewed commitment to performance evaluation, Trans Nzoia aims to foster accountability, excellence, and an ongoing dedication to service delivery that meets the expectations of its citizens.
