Trans Nzoia County Inaugurates New Health Facility in Sinoko Motosiet Ward

The Trans Nzoia County Government has opened a new health facility in Sinoko Motosiet Ward, enhancing healthcare accessibility and aligning with Governor George Natembeya’s universal healthcare goals.

The Trans Nzoia County Government has inaugurated a new health facility in Sinoko Motosiet Ward, Cherangani Sub-County, marking a significant step toward enhancing healthcare accessibility. This initiative aligns with Governor George Natembeya’s manifesto to achieve universal healthcare for all residents.

“This is a fulfilment of Governor Natembeya’s commitment to ensuring universal healthcare,” stated Sam Ojwang, County Executive Committee (CEC) Member for Health and Sanitation, during the launch event. “The establishment of this facility will significantly boost healthcare services by bringing them closer to the people.”

The county government is collaborating with the national government to improve healthcare services. “We are working together to distribute mosquito nets, which will be launched by Governor Natembeya this Thursday,” Ojwang added.

The new facility is the 22nd to be established in the sub-county, addressing the high demand for healthcare services. “With the opening of this facility, over 8,000 residents will benefit from the services offered,” said Dr. Judith Simiyu, Chief Officer for Health.

Dr. Simiyu emphasized the department’s commitment to preventive healthcare. “We are focusing on preventive rather than curative services to reduce the number of patients seeking treatment at health facilities,” she explained.

In addition to the new facility, the county is nearing completion of the Tom Mboya Health Facility, which will provide specialized services for mothers and children. “This facility will offer specialized care to a critical group of our population,” noted Ojwang.

The county government is also ensuring a steady supply of medicines and health supplies. “We are working through health units and spokes linked to smaller facilities to maintain a constant supply of medicines,” Dr. Simiyu assured.

Dr. Simiyu called on the community to support healthcare workers, especially in newly established facilities. “Community support is crucial for creating a conducive environment for our healthcare workers,” she said.

Under Governor Natembeya’s leadership, the Kijana Wamalwa Referral Hospital has been operationalized, offering specialized treatments including modern CT scans, emergency services, and maternity care.
