The Trans Nzoia County government has taken a significant step towards supporting local traders with the constitution of a committee tasked with allocating business spaces at the upcoming Masinde Muliro Market in Kitale.

In a move aimed at bolstering local commerce, the Trans Nzoia County government has initiated plans to allocate 3,600 business spaces at the forthcoming Masinde Muliro Market in Kitale. County Secretary Truphosa Amere and Trade CEC Patrick Gacheru provided assurances of a fair and transparent allocation process during a meeting with Soko Mjinga Committee Members in Kitale.

Amere reiterated the county government’s commitment to supporting local traders, emphasizing that the constitution of a committee for space allocation was a step towards ensuring fairness in the process. She assured traders that all genuine applicants would be considered, underscoring the importance of providing equitable opportunities for business owners in the community.

According to Gacheru, the market’s construction is progressing as per the agreement with the contractor, with completion expected by mid-May. He further announced that the official opening of the market is slated for August, marking a significant milestone for the county’s economic development agenda.

The Masinde Muliro Market, touted as one of the county’s flagship projects, is poised to become a vibrant hub for trade and commerce in the region.
