Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya, First Lady Lilian Natembeya, and Deputy Governor Philomena Kapkory ushered in the festive season with a symbolic Christmas tree lighting ceremony, emphasizing peace, unity, and responsible celebrations.

Residents of Kitale gathered in large numbers on Friday evening to witness the annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony, officially marking the start of the festive season in Trans Nzoia County. The event, held at the Kitale main square, featured carols, speeches, and vibrant decorations that set the mood for the holiday season.

Governor George Natembeya, accompanied by First Lady Lilian Natembeya and Deputy Governor Philomena Kapkory, led the celebrations. In his address, Governor Natembeya highlighted the significance of Christmas as a time to reflect on the birth of Jesus Christ and to share love and kindness, particularly with the less fortunate.

“The lighting of the Christmas tree is a symbol of peace and a brighter future for the people of Trans Nzoia,” the Governor stated.

A Message of Peace and Unity

Governor Natembeya called on residents to uphold the spirit of peace and unity during the celebrations, emphasizing the importance of community togetherness. He also urged moderation, cautioning against overindulgence during the festivities.

“Moderation is key during the festive season,” he advised, adding a special appeal to motorists to prioritize road safety to prevent accidents and loss of lives.

Deputy Governor Philomena Kapkory echoed these sentiments, urging residents to embrace the values of love, sharing, and community spirit.
