Trans Nzoia Roads Committee Inspects Key Projects in Kinyoro and Matisi Wards

A Trans Nzoia Roads Committee, led by engineers Rodgers Simiyu and Josephat Makokha, inspected major infrastructure projects in Kinyoro and Matisi Wards, focusing on road accessibility and bridge safety.

On Wednesday, a Trans Nzoia Roads Inspection Committee assessed two major projects aimed at enhancing transportation and safety in Kinyoro and Matisi Wards.

📍 Kisawai Centre – Chekui/Mima Junction Road (Kinyoro Ward)

This road plays a vital role in facilitating the transport of farm produce to markets. Previously neglected for years, it has now been graded and graveled, significantly improving accessibility for residents and traders.

🌉 Enhancing Safety with Umoja Bridge in Matisi Ward

📍 Newly Constructed Umoja Bridge (Matisi Ward)

Built to address persistent flooding issues, the bridge is a game-changer for residents, especially during the rainy season. In recent years, several people—including schoolchildren—lost their lives while attempting to cross the Umoja River during heavy rains.

🎤 Community Reaction

🔹 Matisi resident Sharon Chebet expressed her appreciation for the project:
🗣️ “Last year, we lost several people during heavy rains while trying to cross Umoja River. Now, even drunkards can safely make it across.”

🔨 Commitment to Infrastructure Development

The Trans Nzoia County Roads Department continues prioritizing road and bridge projects to enhance mobility and safety.

Among those present during the inspection were:
✔️ Rodgers Simiyu & Josephat Makokha – Assistant Road Engineers
✔️ Nicholas Wamalwa – County Communication Representative
✔️ Ward Administrators from Kinyoro and Matisi

With ongoing infrastructure upgrades, the county government reaffirms its commitment to ensuring all roads remain accessible and up to standard.
