On Wednesday, a Trans Nzoia Roads Inspection Committee assessed two major projects aimed at enhancing transportation and safety in Kinyoro and Matisi Wards.
📍 Kisawai Centre – Chekui/Mima Junction Road (Kinyoro Ward)
This road plays a vital role in facilitating the transport of farm produce to markets. Previously neglected for years, it has now been graded and graveled, significantly improving accessibility for residents and traders.
🌉 Enhancing Safety with Umoja Bridge in Matisi Ward
📍 Newly Constructed Umoja Bridge (Matisi Ward)
Built to address persistent flooding issues, the bridge is a game-changer for residents, especially during the rainy season. In recent years, several people—including schoolchildren—lost their lives while attempting to cross the Umoja River during heavy rains.
🎤 Community Reaction
🔹 Matisi resident Sharon Chebet expressed her appreciation for the project:
🗣️ “Last year, we lost several people during heavy rains while trying to cross Umoja River. Now, even drunkards can safely make it across.”
