The County Government of Trans Nzoia has announced plans to partner with the New Kenya Co-operative Creameries (KCC) to distribute milk to Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE) centers starting next term. Governor George Natembeya explained that the initial supplier lacked the capacity to meet the demands, fulfilling only Ksh.7 million worth of the allocated Ksh.70 million budget. As a result, Ksh.63 million will now be reallocated to New KCC to ensure a reliable supply.
During Mashujaa Day celebrations at Kapkoi Primary School, Natembeya reiterated his administration’s commitment to agricultural and infrastructural development. He pledged to continue providing free seeds to farmers to promote food stability and promised improvements to county roads, including grading and murraming.
Additionally, the governor shared plans to begin piping and distributing water in Kwanza Subcounty, following the successful completion of the Kolongolo-Kiptogot water project. He announced an increase in the Nawiri Fund allocation to Ksh.100 million this fiscal year, up from Ksh.80 million, benefiting over 250 groups and encouraging further applications to foster economic growth.
Natembeya also reassured residents that all ongoing market construction projects would be completed once the supplementary budget receives county assembly approval, with equitable allocation of market spaces across all 25 wards.
Addressing health services, the governor urged striking nurses to return to work immediately, warning that failure to comply would lead to the recruitment of new nurses beginning next week.
