Transparency and Fairness in Milimani Market Plot Allocations: CEC Assures Residents

CEC Janerose Nasimiyu Mutama emphasizes transparency and equity in Milimani market plot allocations, assuring residents of adherence to legal provisions.

In a public participation meeting with residents of Milimani, Chepchoina, the County Executive Committee (CEC) for Lands, Physical Planning, Housing, and Urban Development, Janerose Nasimiyu Mutama, emphasized transparency and equity in the allocation of market plots. This assurance aligns with Governor George Natembeya’s commitment to ensuring all citizens receive their rightful share.

CEC Mutama highlighted that the Lands Act clearly outlines the procedures for allocating market plots to the public for development. The department will adhere strictly to these legal provisions to prevent any grievances from residents. By following the law meticulously, the county aims to foster trust and accountability in the allocation process.

The CEC issued a stern warning to county officials suspected of attempting to acquire land unfairly. “We have received reports that certain individuals are spreading misinformation about plots meant to benefit county officials,” said Mutama. “This is unacceptable. No one has been authorized to claim land that rightfully belongs to the public.” Governor Natembeya’s administration is committed to upholding integrity and will take disciplinary action against anyone found engaging in such behavior.

To expedite the allocation process, the Department of Lands is working tirelessly. All seven market plots in Endebess sub-County, including Milimani, Eminit, and Kaboto, will be allocated simultaneously. This approach aims to ensure that more people benefit from the distribution and prevent any double allocations.

Next week, the department will begin surveying and establishing the market plans, paving the way for fair and efficient plot allocations. Mutama urged residents to unite and avoid divisive politics that could hinder the allocation process. “Let us work together,” she said, “to ensure that every member of our community receives their rightful share.”

Local residents in Chepchoina Milimani expressed frustration with the lengthy plot allocation process. They called on the Department of Lands to expedite the exercise and guarantee fairness in distributing the central plot to the public.
