Ward Finals Electrify in Trans Nzoia Governor’s Cup

The Governor’s Cup Ward Finals in Trans Nzoia concluded with thrilling matches, as victorious teams from over 25 wards advance to the sub-county tournament.

The Governor’s Cup Ward Finals in Trans Nzoia County reached an electrifying climax this weekend, with over 25 wards competing for spots in the highly anticipated sub-county tournament. The event, which showcased exceptional grassroots football, brought together passionate fans, local leaders, and sports enthusiasts who eagerly witnessed some of the best talent in the region.

Showcase of Skill and Determination
Held across multiple venues, the finals were filled with breathtaking goals and dramatic penalty shootouts, as each ward fielded its best teams, determined to secure their place in the next stage. The competition displayed a blend of skill, strategy, and sheer determination, with every team giving their all to represent their ward with pride.

This initiative, led by Governor George Natembeya, is designed to promote grassroots sports development, provide young talent with an opportunity to shine, and foster unity across the county.

Sub-County Tournament Up Next
The victorious teams from each ward now look forward to the sub-county tournament scheduled for next week. In this stage, they will face even fiercer competition in their quest to secure a place in the county finals, where the ultimate champion will be crowned.

Kiminini Sub-County saw Kiminini Stars FC and Kiminini Starlets FC take victories in the men’s and ladies’ categories, respectively. Other qualifiers include Volcano FC from Waitaluk Ward and White Ladies FC in the ladies’ category. However, Sikhendu Ward’s men’s result is still pending due to a postponed match between Homeboys and Chalicha.

In Kwanza Sub-County, Emoru FC and Kwanza Girls FC triumphed for Kwanza Ward, while Bright Star FC and Magwiji Starlets FC made Kapomboi Ward proud. White Eagles FC and Makunga Queens FC from Bidii Ward also secured their places.

Endebess Sub-County delivered thrilling encounters, with Bocah Junior FC and Moss Queens FC representing Endebess Ward. Other winners from this sub-county include Kaptega FC and Anderson Queens FC from Chepchoina Ward.

Saboti Sub-County saw Kaloleni All-Stars FC and Kaloleni Starlets FC emerge victorious for Tuwan Ward, while Kakunga FC and Lukhome Queens FC triumphed for Machewa Ward. Chebosan FC and Kapretwa Queens FC from Saboti Ward rounded out the sub-county’s standout teams.

In Cherang’any Sub-County, Makutano FC and Baraka FC led the charge for Makutano Ward, with Kesogon FC and Sinyereri Queens FC from Sinyereri Ward also emerging victorious.

A Thrilling Road Ahead
As the teams head to the sub-county matches next week, the journey to find Trans Nzoia’s ultimate football champions continues. With so much talent on display and fierce competition ahead, all eyes are now on the next round of the Governor’s Cup.
