Big Boost in Health Sector as Natembeya, Israeli Ambassador Launch New CT Scan Machine at WKTRH
The county administration of Trans Nzoia has received a major boost through a development partnership with the Israeli government, focusing on enhancing health services and access to water for local residents.
On Tuesday morning, Governor George Natembeya welcomed Israel’s Ambassador to Kenya, Michael Lotem, for extensive talks on partnerships aimed at improving the livelihoods of communities in Trans Nzoia. Following their discussions, the county boss led the delegation to the Wamalwa Kijana Teaching and Referral Hospital (WKTRH), where they launched a new CT scan machine provided by Elmed, an Israeli-based health solutions provider.
“We will go extra miles to ensure that our people get the best services, and this is why we are working with like-minded people and organizations to achieve our goal of improving livelihoods,” said Natembeya after the launch.
The Israeli diplomat praised the governor for advancing Trans Nzoia’s healthcare services. “You have made this county be among the first to reach the twenty-second millennium with the enhancement of health service provision,” Lotem remarked, noting that the new CT scan machine enables the hospital to offer services comparable to those of major health facilities.
In addition to the CT scan machine, the governor inaugurated a new maternity wing at WKTRH. This facility is expected to reduce maternal and child mortality by providing essential services to expectant mothers and their newborns. US Aid Ampath further supported the initiative by donating 30 modern delivery beds worth approximately Kes 50 million, which will significantly improve the comfort and ease of the child delivery experience for expectant mothers.
Governor Natembeya was accompanied by County Executives Sam Ojwang (Health) and Pepela Wanjala (Water and Environment), along with Chief Officers Dr. Judith Simiyu (Health) and Dorothy Nyukuri (Water and Environment). This collaboration underscores the county’s commitment to improving health services and overall community well-being.
