Free Eye Clinic Set to Benefit Thousands in Trans Nzoia

Trans Nzoia County partners with Pankaj Social Service and Laxmanbhai Free Eye Hospital to provide free eye screenings and surgeries from January 24 to February 1, 2025

Residents of Trans Nzoia County are poised to benefit from a free eye care initiative as the Premji Keshra Free Eye Clinic launches its week-long program of screenings and surgical camps. The event, running from January 24 to February 1, 2025, aims to tackle widespread eye health challenges in the county.

This initiative is a collaboration between the County Government of Trans Nzoia, Pankaj Social Service, and Laxmanbhai Free Eye Hospital, underscoring the county’s dedication to advancing healthcare access.

Wide Coverage Across Sub-Counties

The program will feature 21 free eye screening camps across dispensaries, health centers, and sub-county hospitals to ensure accessibility for all residents.

Key locations and dates include:

  • Cherengany Sub-County: Situtunga Dispensary and Kapsara Sub County Hospital (January 24–25)
  • Kimilili, Saboti, Kwanza, and Endebess Sub-Counties: Tulwet Health Centre, Saboti Sub County Hospital, and Kapkoi Health Centre (subsequent days).

The screenings will culminate in a free surgical clinic at the Andersen Medical Centre, where patients will receive specialized care, including surgeries, from January 24 to February 1.

Commitment to Eye Health

Sam Ojwang, County Executive Committee Member for Health, emphasized the importance of partnerships in delivering quality healthcare services.

“Our target is to ensure we collaborate with like-minded stakeholders to boost the delivery of health services in the county,” he said.

Pankaj Shah, founder of Pankaj Social Service, highlighted the program’s life-changing impact.

“This program is a chance to restore vision and prevent avoidable blindness. We encourage everyone to take advantage of this opportunity,” Shah noted.
