Governor George Natembeya has called on residents of Machewa to engage actively in government programs to enhance local economic growth. Addressing the community on Thursday, Natembeya emphasized the importance of understanding government structures, noting that limited awareness impedes financial circulation at the grassroots level.
“When money flows properly, businesses prosper, empowering residents to independently apply for opportunities,” Natembeya stated. He highlighted the allocation of Kes 100 million to the Nawiri Fund as a crucial resource for local entrepreneurs and encouraged suppliers to submit fair and accurate quotations in tenders to ensure ethical business practices and profitability.
“We want suppliers to operate with integrity by providing fair quotations that allow for profit while upholding ethical behavior. Greed undermines collective progress,” he advised.
Governor Natembeya also announced plans to establish a county chicken slaughterhouse, urging residents to engage in poultry farming, with the assurance of a ready market. This project is part of the county’s broader initiative to strengthen agriculture and support sustainable livelihoods.
The event was attended by area MCA Kisiang’ani Wambwa, Saboti MCA Boniface Cheloti, Trade CEC Patrick Gacheru, Nawiri Fund Chairperson Martin Waliaula, and Directors Dr. Felix Sialo (Communications) and Dr. Scholasticah Nalobile (Trade), who all reiterated their commitment to supporting local economic initiatives.
