Governor Natembeya Warns Contractors Against Substandard Work
Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has issued a stern warning to contractors, emphasizing the need for integrity and high-quality workmanship in county projects. Speaking at the National Museums of Kenya in Kitale on Wednesday during an appraisal meeting on county projects, Natembeya stressed that his administration will no longer tolerate substandard work and uninspected projects.
Governor Natembeya highlighted the importance of honesty, professionalism, and efficiency in executing county projects. He warned that contractors who fail to meet these standards risk being blacklisted from future county government contracts.
“It is time for contractors working with us to uphold high-quality workmanship, observe honesty, professionalism, and efficiency,” Natembeya stated.
Accompanied by County Secretary Truphosa Amere and other senior officials, Natembeya addressed concerns raised by contractors, reminding them of their obligations and the potential sanctions for non-compliance. He noted that delays in road construction have hindered efforts to improve residents’ lives and reiterated his commitment to completing impactful projects.

The Governor also announced the formation of a committee to oversee periodic payment mechanisms for contractors, aiming to address issues of loan defaults and pending bills. He pledged to prioritize the payment of genuine pending bills, revealing that his administration has already committed to settling KSh. 180 million out of the KSh. 398 million inherited from the previous administration.
Natembeya called for full cooperation in honoring tax obligations, emphasizing the need for collective effort to ensure the successful implementation of county projects.
