Kitale Museum Draws Over 800 Students on Busy Day

Kitale Museum attracts more than 800 students a week after transitioning to Trans Nzoia County administration, with plans for an animal orphanage and expanded reptile park.

More than 800 students from primary, secondary, and tertiary colleges thronged the Kitale Museum on Friday, a week after it was officially handed over to the Trans Nzoia County administration. The museum, a popular destination for learners, attracted a high number of students due to its vast collection of historical artifacts and exhibits.

In a bid to further enhance its appeal, county officials are planning to establish an animal orphanage at the museum and expand the existing reptile park. These initiatives are aimed at attracting more tourists, especially students and domestic visitors.

The recent transition of the Kitale Museum to the governance of Trans Nzoia County marks a new chapter for the institution. With these upcoming enhancements, the museum is set to become an even more significant educational and tourist hub, benefiting both the local community and visitors from afar.

Stanley Kirui, the County Executive Committee Member for Gender, Youth, Sports, Culture, and Tourism, emphasized the county government’s commitment to upgrading the museum. He noted that local management would better serve the people of Trans Nzoia and promote cultural preservation.

Frederick Masheti Palapala, the museum’s curator, described the occasion as a promising moment. “Marking this milestone,” he said, “we embark on a new era where the Kitale National Museum becomes a beacon of cultural pride and historical awareness.”

To further enhance its appeal, county officials plan to establish an animal orphanage at the museum and expand the existing reptile park. These initiatives are aimed at attracting more tourists, especially students and domestic visitors.
