Trans Nzoia County Team Flagged Off for KICOSCA Games in Kakamega

Trans Nzoia County's sports team has been flagged off by Acting CEC Patrick Gicheru for the KICOSCA games in Kakamega, where they will compete in football, volleyball, netball, darts, and cultural dance.

Trans Nzoia County’s sports team was officially flagged off today by the Acting CEC for Gender, Youth, Sports, Culture, and Tourism, Patrick Gicheru, as they head to Kakamega to participate in the Kenya Inter-County Sports and Cultural Association (KICOSCA) games. The event is set to run from November 23 to 30, 2024, and will feature a wide range of disciplines, including football (men), volleyball (men and women), netball (women), darts (men and women), cultural dance, and field events.

A Call for Discipline and Teamwork
Addressing the team before their departure, Gicheru emphasized the significance of discipline as they represent Trans Nzoia at the competition. “You are not just athletes; you are ambassadors of Trans Nzoia County. Keep your heads high and your conduct exemplary throughout the games. We expect nothing less than a positive display of teamwork, dedication, and respect for the rules,” Gicheru urged.

He also cautioned the athletes against the dangers of alcohol abuse and encouraged them to stay focused on the competition, remembering their roles as county representatives.

Optimism for Success
In her remarks, Chief Officer for Gender, Youth, Sports, Culture, and Tourism, Jane Wachwenge, expressed confidence in the team’s ability to succeed. “I am looking forward to seeing many trophies come back with you. Remember, teamwork is key. Play as a unit and always have each other’s backs. Be your brother’s keeper,” Wachwenge said.

A Platform for Talent and Cultural Exchange
The KICOSCA games provide an exciting opportunity for counties across Kenya to showcase their sporting talent and cultural heritage. As the team from Trans Nzoia prepares to compete, the county hopes to make a strong impression on both the athletic and cultural fronts.
