Trans Nzoia County is set to revise its revenue projection upwards to Ksh 1 billion, according to an announcement made by Governor George Natembeya on Monday. The governor emphasized the county’s untapped potential for revenue collection while identifying corruption among collectors as a significant impediment to achieving this goal.
“We have the potential to collect more revenue, but corruption is a major obstacle,” Governor Natembeya stated following a meeting with the county revenue officer. He assured residents that his administration is determined to streamline revenue collection processes to ensure more funds are available for improving the living standards in the county.
In a firm stance against corruption, Governor Natembeya issued a stern warning to county employees, promising stringent action against those involved in corrupt practices. “Those indulging in corrupt dealings will be prosecuted,” he warned, underscoring his commitment to clean governance.
The governor also expressed concern over the reduction in funding from the National Government, highlighting the need for the county to enhance its revenue collection efforts to maintain essential services. “The treasury has indicated a reduction in county allocations following the collapse of the finance bill. We must adjust and improve our revenue collections,” he explained.

To motivate the revenue officers, Governor Natembeya announced the introduction of reward and sanction measures. “We will reward those who perform above expectations and hold accountable those who fail in their duties,” he added.
The governor’s remarks come amidst ongoing efforts to address budgetary constraints and ensure the financial stability of the county. “With the reduction in national funding, we must pull up our socks to ensure services continue as planned,” Governor Natembeya concluded.
This proactive approach by the Trans Nzoia County administration is aimed at overcoming financial challenges and ensuring continued service delivery to its residents, despite the reduction in national funding.
