The Trans Nzoia County youth contingent for the Kenya Youth Inter-County Sports Association (KYISA) Games was officially flagged off today at the County Headquarters by Deputy County Secretary George Kisaka.
The games, which will be held in Homa Bay County from April 12–19, will gather top youth athletes from counties across Kenya for a week-long competition in various sports disciplines.

During the flag-off ceremony at Town Hall, Kitale, Mr. Kisaka emphasized the responsibility and honour of representing the county:
“You are not just representing yourselves—you are representing the entire county. We expect you to observe discipline and be focused on the task ahead. Go make us proud.”
Chief Officer for Gender, Youth, Sports, Culture, and Tourism, Madam Jane Wachwenge, echoed his sentiments:
“You are ambassadors of our Governor, George Natembeya, and the entire people of Trans Nzoia. Carry the county flag high. Play your hearts out, look after each other, and above all, uphold good conduct on and off the pitch.”
She urged the players to embrace unity, teamwork, and good sportsmanship, reminding them that their actions reflect on the county as a whole.
⚽🏐 Two Teams, One Mission: Excellence and Unity
Trans Nzoia is fielding two teams in the tournament:
- Men’s Football Team
- Men’s Volleyball Team
The players, all aged between 18 and 23 years, have undergone intensive training at St. Joseph’s Boys High School in Kitale, preparing physically and mentally for the challenge ahead.
🚐 Departure for Homa Bay Underway
The contingent is expected to travel to Homa Bay later today to arrive ahead of the tournament’s official opening. The county leadership has expressed confidence in the teams’ ability to perform and represent Trans Nzoia with integrity, passion, and resilience.
