The Trans Nzoia County University Task Force has successfully concluded its mandate, finalizing a comprehensive report that will soon be submitted to Governor George Natembeya for approval. This marks a significant step toward the long-awaited establishment of a university in the county.
Speaking at a press briefing in Kitale on Saturday, Dr. Helen Yego, the Vice Chairperson of the Task Force, shared that the report incorporates insights from residents across all parts of the county, including those living abroad. The Task Force also engaged with experts and stakeholders in the education sector to ensure that the document is well-rounded and thoroughly informed.
“We have completed the preparation of the report and are eagerly awaiting the day when we can present it to Governor Natembeya,” Dr. Yego stated with optimism.
Dr. David Wafula Lwangale, a member of the Task Force, echoed Dr. Yego’s sentiments, emphasizing the meticulous approach taken in finalizing the report and ensuring that all necessary documentation is in place.
The Task Force extended its gratitude to the residents of Trans Nzoia County for their active participation and valuable contributions, which played a crucial role in shaping the final document.
Kennedy Etyang, the Chief Officer for Education, praised the Task Force for their dedication and perseverance, particularly in the face of numerous challenges. He reassured the public of the Natembeya administration’s commitment to promptly implementing the report’s recommendations upon its submission.
Looking ahead, Etyang highlighted the county’s readiness to embark on the second phase of the initiative—establishing a university in Trans Nzoia. He emphasized the urgent need for such an institution, expressing the administration’s unwavering support for its realization.
“A university will significantly boost education standards in the county and create numerous opportunities for our local population,” Etyang remarked, underscoring the transformative impact of the project.
