Governor Natembeya Nominates 16 Chief Officers, Names Forwarded to County Assembly for Vetting

Governor George Natembeya has nominated 16 individuals for County Chief Officer positions and forwarded their names to the Trans Nzoia County Assembly for vetting and approval in line with the County Government Act, 2012.

The Governor of Trans Nzoia County, Hon. George Natembeya, has formally nominated 16 individuals to serve as County Chief Officers across various county departments, marking a significant step in strengthening service delivery and administrative leadership within the county government.

The nominations, communicated through an official executive letter dated May 25, 2026, were submitted to the Office of the County Assembly Clerk before being forwarded to the Office of the Speaker for tabling before the assembly.

The appointments are being undertaken pursuant to Section 45 of the County Government Act, 2012, which requires the governor to nominate County Chief Officers subject to vetting and approval by the County Assembly.

In the communication addressed to County Assembly Clerk Moses Lupao, Governor Natembeya stated:

“Pursuant to Section 45 of the County Government Act of 2012, I have nominated the persons named below and hereby submit them for vetting and approval.”

The nominees are expected to provide technical and administrative leadership in critical county departments including agriculture, infrastructure, governance, education, finance, youth affairs, lands, trade, and social development.


Strategic Distribution of Nominees Across Sub-Counties
The nominations reflect a broad representation from different sub-counties within Trans Nzoia, including Saboti, Kwanza, Cherangany, Endebess, and Kiminini.

County officials noted that the appointments are intended to enhance efficiency, strengthen institutional coordination, and support the implementation of the county government’s development agenda across all sectors.

Several key departments received nominations aimed at reinforcing economic growth, infrastructure expansion, agricultural productivity, youth empowerment, and improved public service delivery.

County Assembly Set to Conduct Vetting Process
Following the formal submission, the County Assembly’s relevant departmental committees are expected to commence public vetting sessions for the nominees.

The committees will examine the nominees’ academic qualifications, professional experience, integrity, and suitability to serve in their respective dockets before compiling reports for debate and adoption by the plenary assembly.

Upon approval by the County Assembly, the nominees will officially assume office and begin overseeing the implementation of county policies, programs, and development priorities within their assigned departments.
